Ultra Street Fighter II – Shin Akuma Unlock Code Revealed by Capcom

Capcom’s Ultra Street Fighter II is a nice little hit of nostalgia for the Nintendo Switch. The game takes one of the best fighters of all time and upgrades it in a few key ways, offering what might be the best version of one of the best games ever made. One small addition went unnoticed by players though. Ultra Street Fighter II features a hidden character with Shin Akuma, and Capcom just revealed how to unlock him.

The method is very reminiscent of the cheat codes of the past, with players having to enter specific key presses and movements. Here’s the unlock code for Shin Akuma in Ultra Street Fighter II…

Select Ryu, cancel on color 1.
Select Ken, cancel on color 9.
Select Sagat, cancel on color 8.
Select M. Bison, cancel on color 7.
Scroll to Random, then press L & R at the same time.

Ultra Street Fighter II is a fine game for Nintendo Switch, though I was a bit hard on it in my review. The real sin is the price, as the game offers little beyond a very old and often re-released game on Switch. That alone is worth it for many players, as the console offers top tier performance on the go.
