Today EA had its Q1 financial call for early 2016, announcing a bevy of upcoming titles and their planned release windows. It was during the call that Unravel was announced to have a early 2016 release during the fiscal year, which makes up the months of January 1st to March 31st. Its good to hear that EA is exploring their options with other new IP’s from indie developers, and Unravel was one of the best highlights during its E3 press conference.

IGN, gave all the details on the financial call earlier in the day, with even Battlefield 5 confirmed to be in the works. Developed by indie studio Coldwood, Unravel is a platformer that features the cute and popular character Yarny. All of the physics in the game were based on real-life movements of yarn, with the creator of the game even showing off the actual Yarny he created from scratch at the EA press conference. Unravel plans to release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC as a digital download.

I was impressed by the reveal while at E3, and found it to be charming and a great throwback to earlier platformers, putting it on my list of most anticipated games of 2016.
