Gamescom had lots of new things announced like price cuts and release dates but one of these things was a movie developed for the upcoming game Watch_Dogs. During Sony’s media briefing at Gamescom, Ubisoft announced that the movie will be produced and distributed in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment and New Regency.
Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet said that Ubisoft will have a  “strong creative voice in the film’s development.”
President of Sony Pictures/Columbia Pictures Hannah Minghella stated that the Watch_Dogs as a game has the ability to be a big-screen blockbuster and that it has all the necessary elements to be a huge success as a motion picture.
Although that until now no director has been named for the Watch Dogs movie, nor has a cast or release date been announced but the possible star of the movie will be the Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise, according to a poll made by Ubisoft itself.Â
Ubisoft has a total of six movies in their consideration that they think are huge candidates for a Box Office success. These games are Far Cry, Rabbids, Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon franchises. In all instances, Ubisoft will retain creative control of their company.
