People were excited when the new Hitman game was announced at E3 2015. However, some people wondered why it’s just called “Hitman”.

Other gaming publishers name their games a simple title because it’s supposed to be a reboot. We’ve seen this with Star Wars Battlefront, Need for Speed and Mortal Kombat just to name a few.

Angry Joe interviewed Hakan Abrak who is the Production Director for the new Hitman game. The first question that was asked is why this game is simply called “Hitman” and nothing else.

Abrak said the game is “not really a reboot“. IO Interactive was just looking back on the 17 years they’ve been making Hitman games. When looking back, they wanted to see what features the fans loved the most.

After looking at what was cool about the older Hitman games, they are trying to roll all the great features into one game. They called it “Hitman” because it will add fan favorite features, and will also set the foundation for future games. He said it will be a “pure” experience of the franchise.

Surprisingly, this will be the first game in the series that will be called just “Hitman”. Every other game in the series had some type of subtitle added on.
