Xbox boss unfazed by Destiny alignment with Sony and PS4

There was a time when Bungie was synonymous with Microsoft and the Xbox brand. When you take into consideration how much impact that the Seattle-based developers had on Xbox Live, the original Xbox, and Xbox 360, it was quite surprising just how far away Bungie stepped from Microsoft leading up to the reveal of Destiny.

We just want them to build a great game, says Spencer

While Bungie has firmly planted their flag in the PlayStation camp with Destiny by offering exclusive downloadable content and test periods for the game, Xbox boss Phil Spencer isn’t mad at the developers.

When asked if he was mad at Bungie, Spencer says “No, not at all. Just want them to build a great game.”

While Spencer doesn’t appear to be mad, he’s gotta be somewhat disappointed. Xbox owners have yet to get a taste of Destiny, which showed well in its Alpha Test on the PS4. Revealing itself as a contemporary shooter with heavy MMO elements, Destiny is on track to be one of the biggest games of the year.

Destiny is slated to launch in September on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. A beta test for Destiny is slated to arrive later this month. It will arrive first on PlayStation, followed by an Xbox beta. Both beta tests are for pre-order customers only.
