There is some bad news for Xbox Live Gold members living in Latin American countries. The price to be a Gold subscriber has increased as high as up to 40 percent the rate it was set before.

SoloXboxOne noted that one of the members on their editorial team received a message from Microsoft that there will be an increase on the price of Xbox Live Gold annual subscriptions. The increase is 40 percent higher than the price it was before.

The website says the price has not been changed yet for monthly and quarterly subscriptions. The price increase does not affect Spain either. The affected countries include: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. They heard from some users in Mexico that the monthly subscription for Xbox Live Gold has risen by 50 percent.

The price increase does not happen until February 18th, 2016. If you want to save money, it’s best to stock up on Xbox Live Gold memberships cards now before they get too expensive. It’s unknown at this time why these specific countries are being targeted. It could be something to do with the exchange rate.

Hopefully Microsoft does not increase the price of Xbox Live in other regions too. Online gaming is expensive as it is with PS Plus also a necessity for PS4 gamers plus all of the DLC and Season Passes floating around.
