Right around E3 2014, we finally got the much wanted unbundling of the Xbox One with the Kinect, which reduced the price to $399. However, while this was technically a price cut in a sense, the console itself was not any cheaper as the Kinect was removed. Now, Amazon Italy is showing a reduced price on the original Kinect bundle for €399,99 rather than the current €499,99
This happens to come right after the Spanish website changed the price of the base console to €349,99, which Microsoft at the time said was just an error. However, with this listing on Amazon now, it might possibly bring some credence to the idea that it was just accidentally leaked early.
With the Xbox One still falling a good bit behind the PlayStation 4 in sales, a true price cut for the console could help a lot, especially to put it cheaper than the PlayStation 4. If they really are looking to lower the price of the system, Gamescom would certainly be a good spot to announce it when it starts in a few days, especially with it being based in Europe.
The question at this point is whether or not this is just a temporary price cut by Amazon Italy or a sign of something more. Stay tuned for all the information on Gamescom later this week where we’ll hopefully learn more.
