Is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4? A neoGAF user recently spotted an updated page on Bethesda’s official Skyrim homepage that lists the game as available on the Xbox One and PS4. Is this a case of a typo or database error? Or is Bethesda bringing their award-winning RPG to new consoles?
It wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Bethesda bringing an prettier version of the RPG to consoles, there was a huge discrepancy between vanilla Skyrim on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, when compared to the PC version with high-resolution texture pack applied.
Bethesda could be following the lead of Tomb Raider developers, Crystal Dynamics, who are re-releasing a Definitive Edition of their 2013 game, later this month. Then again, it could just be an error with the listing. We’ll have to wait and see if the error is corrected, or whether Bethesda has plans to announce Skyrim for the Xbox One and PS4.
We’ve gotten no word of what Bethesda Game Studios is currently working on. Last year, the company announced that development for Skyrim had ceased, and the team had moved on to their next big project. While nothing has been announced, many put Fallout 4 as Bethesda Game Studios’ next big game.
Update: Bethesda’s Pete Hines has confirmed that this was just a database error caused by a recent content management update. No Skyrim for you next-gen.
