Fable fans could be getting new details about what’s next for the Fable franchise at Gamescom next week.   It looks like Microsoft has tied-up two new domains for its Fable franchise, which could indicate that the company has Fable 4 in the works.   While it’s been called that in rumors surrounding the game since 2011, this new game could actually be called Fable: Legends, as two new domain names were recently registered by the same name.   FableLegends.com and FableLegends.net were both recently registered by Microsoft.

At E3 2013, Microsoft was rumored to be revealing a new Fable game for the Xbox One.  The convention came and went without any sign from the franchise.  Will Fable Legends be Microsoft’s Gamescom reveal for the Xbox One?  The company has been hinting at further game announcements at the Cologne video games convention.

We do know that Lionhead is working on an ambitious project for the Xbox One.  What we don’t know, is what that project is.  Of Microsoft’s big showing at E3 2013, Lionhead was one of the studios that was MIA.

Rumors from all the way back in 2011 put Lionhead working on a controller-based sequel to Fable III, presumably Fable IV.   The original rumors had pinned a 2013 release date on the new game, but with no announcement from Microsoft at this time, it’s hard to imagine a new Fable game coming out this year.
