Podcaster Joe Rogan criticized liberal state policies on Tuesday, saying they let mountain lions run wild and eat house pets in cities and suburbs across the U.S. Rogan talked about the growing problem of dangerous animals with hunters Cameron Hanes and Adam Greentree on his podcast. He said what sounds like “love and compassion for nature” actually creates serious dangers for people and their pets.
According to Fox News, Rogan shared disturbing facts about what these predators eat when they get too close to homes. He said analysts studied mountain lions that were shot in the San Francisco Bay Area. The findings were shocking: 50% of their diet was dogs and cats.
“50% of their diet is eating people’s pets,” Rogan told listeners. “So, they’re hunting people’s pets.” Rogan said if you love dogs, you’re letting a “monster” eat your pet because you want to be “kind with nature.” He called this thinking naive and dangerous. You can’t just let nature “do its thing,” he warned. “No, it doesn’t do its thing. It kills your dog, OK?”
The consequences of letting predators roam freely in neighborhoods
He thinks state governments aren’t doing enough to control the mountain lion population. Rogan has been vocal about various policy issues, including Trump’s plans to abolish income tax, showing his interest in how government decisions affect everyday Americans. The only solution to the mountain lion problem, he said, is to hunt them and keep their numbers healthy and far from people. If you don’t control them, he concluded, “it comes back to bite you in the d***.”
Rogan pointed to the taxidermied mountain lion in his lobby as an example. He said this animal was extremely destructive and was killed while eating a dairy cow alive from behind. Rogan described it like “a werewolf’s loose in your town.”
The podcaster, who used to live in California, said the state’s policies have caused deer populations to drop because mountain lions are growing in numbers. He said deer are much more common in Texas because “there’s no mountain lions, and you can shoot them.” California clearly has a mountain lion problem, he argued.
Rogan and his guests agreed the main issue comes from naive city people voting for policies that let dangerous animals spread unchecked. City voters often overrule rural residents who know why controlling predators is necessary.
Hanes shared a scary story of being chased by a mountain lion during an evening run in California, similar to how a man retrieved his cave camera after 10 years and discovered shocking wildlife footage. Rogan used this as a warning: “That is the consequences of letting monsters live in your neighborhood.”
