Stefon Diggs allegedly attacked a staffer over a money dispute, but disturbing testimony about their secret relationship has surfaced in court

The trial for former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs began in Dedham, Massachusetts, as his former personal chef took the stand to detail an alleged physical confrontation that occurred at his home. Diggs, faces charges of assault and battery, as well as felony strangulation, following an incident on December 2, 2025.

According to The Sun, the proceedings, which kicked off with jury selection at the Norfolk County District Court, mark a significant moment in what has become a high-profile legal battle. Mila Adams, the chef who worked for Diggs, appeared emotional during her testimony as she recounted the events that led to their falling out. Adams testified that she first connected with the NFL star via Instagram in December 2022. She described their relationship as complex and, at times, intimate.

By early 2025, their dynamic shifted toward a professional arrangement, and she eventually moved into his Dedham home to serve as his personal chef for a salary of $2,000 per week. Adams noted that her motivation for taking the role included a desire to help improve the athlete’s health. The courtroom heard that tensions flared on December 2, 2025, when Adams became upset about missing a planned trip to Miami for Art Basel.

Wait, this all started after she missed that Miami trip

According to Adams, she had been coordinating outfits for the event with Diggs’ girlfriend at the time, Cardi B. Adams testified that she was venting about the situation via text messages while in her bedroom. She alleged that Diggs entered the room, visibly angry, and confronted her over the messages. Adams testified that Diggs stood near a dresser, demanded to know, “What was all that shit you was talking?”, and then struck her across the face with an open hand before placing her in a headlock.

During her testimony, Adams addressed inconsistencies between her initial police report and her statements in court. She acknowledged that she did not disclose the sexual nature of her relationship with Diggs to the police when she first filed her report, explaining that she was afraid at the time and felt the most critical issue was the alleged assault.

She stated, “I also didn’t put in the police report our sexual relationship,” and denied lying to officers, maintaining that she simply did not expand on the details of their personal history. The prosecution highlighted text messages exchanged between the two, including one where Diggs allegedly wrote, “Show me I’m p****,” to which Adams replied, “Will do.”

Adams also testified that she had been “begging for my money for a while” regarding unpaid wages, claiming the dispute over money was central to the conflict. She told the court that after the incident, she traveled to New York to stay with Xia Charles, another employee of Diggs who she claimed was also involved with him romantically.

Defense attorney Andrew Kettlewell pushed back hard against these claims, arguing that no assault took place and that there is no physical evidence to support the allegations. Kettlewell suggested that Adams was upset because she was not included in a gathering of friends and acquaintances at the home ahead of a planned trip to Miami. He further alleged that Adams was involved in a dispute with one of Diggs’ associates and was frustrated that the wide receiver sided with the other person.

The defense also accused Adams of selectively presenting text messages to law enforcement to bolster her version of events. The legal uncertainty arrives at a challenging time for Diggs, especially as he filed a defamation suit to clear his name against some serious accusations. Former NFL agent Robert Boland, who now works as an attorney, suggested that the case will likely complicate the player’s professional future.

Boland noted that athletes are rarely treated the same as regular people and that there will be significant pressure on the defense team to resolve the matter, potentially even through a plea for a lesser charge, just to get Diggs available for his career again. Boland pointed out that the situation could have lasting consequences regardless of the ultimate verdict. Diggs, who appeared in a navy suit and patterned tie during his arraignment, has categorically denied the allegations through his legal counsel.

He declined to speak with reporters upon his arrival at the courthouse.
