There have been rumors flying around the internet about a potential reveal for a Microsoft VR headset, that works in conjunction with the Xbox, during E3 2015. With Facebook’s Oculus Rift and Sony’s Project Morpheus, it does seem to appear that Microsoft is a bit late to the party and, thus, such a rumor is more likely to be true than not with Microsoft trying to play a bit of catch-up.
Microsoft themselves have not responded to the rumors in a meaningful way, neither denying nor acknowledging the rumors. However, it seems that a few anonymous developers have confirmed that they have indeed received VR development kits, so it seems like it will only be a matter of time before we see official word of the yet unnamed VR headset project.
Microsoft is well placed to make full use of VR for, in conjunction with the Kinect 2.0, they can potentially make the most complete experience with, arguably, the most advanced motion detection technology on any console. It will be interesting to see what Microsoft has in store for us in 2015.
