Elite: Dangerous will exit the Xbox Game Preview program and become a fully released game on October 6th according to an AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit. Elite: Dangerous is currently available on both PC and Xbox One, but is still considered an early access game on the console. a PS4 version is planned, but that console doesn’t offer early access like Steam and Xbox One, so it will likely come later on.
The AMA was conducted on the Xbox One subreddit, with Elite: Dangerous’ David Braben answering the questions. One user asked a series of questions, including when the “full release” of the game would be, to which Braben gave the October 6th date. He did later clarify that the team is aiming for that date, though it could shift as development continues.
One other piece of pretty interesting info came out of the exchange. When asked if “the game preview program owners get any exclusive reward for participating?” Braben responded with a simple “Yes.” It seems that Frontier Developments is going to show some appreciation to those Xbox One users that helped test the game during this early access period.
