We are only three days from the release of Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan and gamers are getting their first try at the game courtesy of the just released demo for the game that we told you about last night. With a release that soon, it’s pretty natural that reviews would begin to surface for the game and it comes to no one’s surprise that Famitsu was the first to do so. Thanks to Nintendo Everything, we now know that score.
Famitsu always follows an interesting review system where four separate reviewers take a separate look at the game and do their own reviews. At this point, the four individual review scores are then combined into a score out of 40. The first review for Super Smash Bros. courtesy of Famitsu is a 37/40. This comes from three review scores of 9 and one of 10. This is exceptionally high and bodes well for the full release of the game later this week.
Interestingly enough, this score is less than the perfect 40 out of 40 that Super Smash Bros. Brawl received back in 2008. However, it is a little different situation with this one being a handheld version. The real comparison will be when Super Smash Bros. for Wii U comes out later this year. For now, it sounds like Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is a winner and should be a blast to play when it releases in Japan later this week and in the US on October 3.
