GTA V will be better because of Rockstar business decisions

Rockstar believes that GTA V will be a better game because of their decision not to annualize the franchise like others do.  Sure, they could make a Grand Theft Auto title on a year-in year-out basis, but believe that it would ultimately lead to fans becoming bored with the series.

In a recent interview, Rockstar’s Leslie Benzies explains that the company definitely has the capacity to push a game out each year, but don’t plan on it any time soon.

“Since then (GTA III) we have grown into a much larger team and our games have much higher expectations.  It’s not just our faith in each project we’ve had to repay, but our fans’ too.  We could easily have churned out a new version year after year without really progressing as a franchise but it we did that, eventually the fans would lose interest.  We want every one of our games to meet and exceed the players’ expectations so they always want more, and as such GTA V feels like our most ambitious project yet.”

Rockstar has already let it be known that GTA V will be the largest Grand Theft Auto title to date, with their three main protagonists being a significant shift in the way that players engage in the world of Los Santos.  Giving players the ability to switch between characters on the fly will certainly be a big differentiator between this Grand Theft Auto and those from years past.

What say you?  Is this a good decision by Rockstar, or would you rather see a new Grand Theft Auto on a yearly basis?
