The singer recently started using the streaming platform and promised fans he would go live every day. But things got interesting when he talked about what he thinks counts as being unfaithful.
According to Daily Dot, Bieber was chatting during one of his streams when he brought up the topic of cheating. The conversation quickly caught fire online, with people having strong reactions to what he had to say. His comments have caused a big split among fans and viewers.
“If you even think of a woman with lust, it’s the same thing as actually doing it,” Bieber said in a clip that spread fast on social media. “Committing adultery, whatever. Like, it’s the same thing. If it even just crosses your mind for one second.” A lot of people were caught off guard by how strict his view is on what cheating means.
This Belief System Doesn’t Work For Everyone
Many people noticed that Bieber seems to be talking about a quote from Jesus in the Christian Bible. The Bible has several parts that say thinking about something is the same as doing it. For example, it says hating someone is like committing murder. This is how some religious people think about right and wrong.
But plenty of people do not see things this way. Even many Christians do not take every Bible teaching word for word. People argue that there is a huge gap between just thinking something and actually doing something that hurts your partner.
Some say that if you keep thinking about something over and over, it might lead to action. But that is not what Bieber meant. He said that even if something crosses your mind for just one second, it is the same as actually cheating on your partner.
People online had very different reactions. One user commented, “Impossible standard to maintain but i bet girls love to believe this lie.” Another wrote, “If I open Instagram, I’m flooded with thousands of explicit images. It’s Instagram’s fault, I can’t blame myself just don’t touch.”
Other people pushed back hard against what Bieber said. Some people saw a weird problem with this way of thinking. If having a quick thought is just as bad as really cheating, then pretty much everyone has cheated at some point. This might actually make real cheating seem less serious because it would not be any worse than what most people already do in their heads.
