Process server arrested for trespassing at Kelce’s house to reach Taylor Swift gets diversion deal, but the reason he was there is even wilder

Don't sue the messenger.

A man who was arrested for jumping the fence at Travis Kelce’s house while trying to reach Taylor Swift will not go to jail. Justin Lee Fisher was arrested on September 15 and faced a criminal trespassing charge. Now, he has been allowed to enter a diversion agreement that will keep a conviction off his record.

According to Court TV, the terms of the agreement are simple. Fisher must pay a $1,000 diversion fee and cannot break any laws. He also cannot have any contact with Swift, Kelce, or anyone else involved in the case. If he follows all the rules, the charge will be completely dismissed.

The incident happened in Leawood, Kansas, at the home of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Fisher jumped the fence around the private property to try to reach Swift, who is Kelce’s fiancée. Security caught him, and he was arrested. Both Kelce and Swift were reportedly inside the house at the time.

Fisher wasn’t a crazed fan, he was doing his job

You might think someone jumping a fence to reach a superstar must be an obsessed fan. But the real reason Fisher was there is much stranger. He wasn’t trying to deliver a fan letter or a gift. Fisher was working as a professional process server trying to deliver a subpoena.

The subpoena was related to a legal battle involving Swift’s close friend, actress Blake Lively, and director Justin Baldoni. It would have required Swift to sit for a deposition in the case, Fisher’s attorney said. Swift has faced her share of controversies recently, including accusations about her merchandise quality.

The legal fight comes from when Lively and Baldoni worked together on the movie It Ends With Us. Lively has claimed she was the victim of sexual harassment and a coordinated smear campaign. Swift is being pulled into the drama because of her friendship with Lively. The pop star has also dealt with political attacks recently.

Getting close to a global figure like Swift is extremely difficult. She travels constantly and is surrounded by security. Trying to serve her with legal paperwork is one of the toughest jobs in process serving. Fisher clearly felt he had to take extreme measures, even though jumping a private fence was the wrong choice and got him arrested.

By taking the diversion agreement, Fisher avoids a criminal conviction. He gets a clean record if he follows the rules and pays his fee. No jail time for trying to drag one of the world’s biggest stars into a high-profile Hollywood legal case at her fiancé’s home.
