Trump made a highlight film syncing real missile strikes in Iran to NFL bone-crushing hits, and one legendary player is saying what we’re all thinking

ESPN analyst and former NFL defensive back Ryan Clark is not holding back his thoughts on President Trump and the White House, especially after a controversial social media post surfaced. Clark, who many remember from his time playing in Pittsburgh, is clearly bothered by the White House’s decision to include NFL highlights in a video about ongoing military efforts in Iran.

President Donald Trump opted to bomb Iran in late February and has continued to defend that choice. According to The Spun, it’s the White House’s subsequent actions that have drawn the ire of Ryan Clark. The video in question reportedly synced real missile strikes in Iran with bone-crushing NFL hits, even featuring references to the movie Tropic Thunder. This is a truly wild move by the White House, and it’s understandable why Clark is so bothered.

Clark voiced his strong disapproval on his Pivot podcast. He called the video “one of the more insensitive things that I’ve ever seen.” He pointed out the stark contrast between war and entertainment. “There are families here in our country whose loved ones have decided to give their life to fight for our rights and our freedoms, who don’t see war as a sport. War doesn’t deserve a highlight film, for Tropic Thunder to be a part of it. War is not a comedy,” Clark explained.

Wait, they really turned missile strikes into an NFL highlight reel

Clark believes military personnel are risking their lives “not for our safety as much as for someone else’s agenda.” He found the administration’s approach to be “unserious, as unprofessional, as laughable and as illegitimate,” which he considers embarrassing for the country. His criticism also comes as tensions have spilled into sports, including Iran’s blunt World Cup response to Trump.

For Clark, this kind of behavior isn’t just a misstep; it reflects President Trump’s character and leadership style. He drew a clear distinction between a “reality star” seeking constant attention and a “public servant” who understands and respects the sacrifices of soldiers. “Because the reality star needs everybody to know at all times, ‘Oh, look at me, look at the attention I’m garnering, we’re doing this for me,'” Clark stated.

He contrasted this with a public servant who “stands at attention for 45 minutes in a salute because he understands what those soldiers who gave their lives have done for our country.” Clark feels the nation has suffered a significant loss due to this kind of conduct.

“I think we’ve lost 100% any credibility. We’ve lost all decorum. We’ve lost all integrity. We’ve lost all character,” he said, emphasizing his belief that the recent White House post, which also involved other NFL players, is “absolutely disgusting and despicable.” It’s worth noting that the White House has also used MLB highlights in similar capacities.
