“That’s the killer part”: A Texas mother was cutting Dave’s Killer Bread for her daughter, but what she found inside has people calling for FDA action

She was about to feed it to her little daughter!

With rising concerns, whether fueled by rumors or concrete evidence, many are more cautious about the products they consume daily. Recently, we heard of the Chipotle Mexican Grill incident, where a sister was having a story time about how his brother nearly got paralyzed due to Chipotle. Now, a Texas mom is calling out Dave’s Killer Bread after identifying a ‘killer part’ of the loaf while cutting it for her daughter.

This brand comes in handy for those who aim to cut down on the excess calories found in regular white bread. But, as reported by BroBible, a TikToker @themegnickerson has shared her bizarre experience in a viral video. As she was cutting the 21 Whole Grains and Seeds bread, Meg discovered what appeared to be ‘woodchips’ in it. She was cutting it for a sandwich, which her daughter was just ‘seconds away’ from consuming. Thankfully, she stopped.

What started as a TikTok video for the brand ended up being a public service announcement. Meg said, “This message is for Dave’s Killer Bread and Dave’s Killer Bread only. Actually, this is a public service announcement, maybe.” As she was cutting, the TikToker held those small wood-like pieces, “There’s actual wood chips in the loaf of bread.” However, it wasn’t just one slice; in the video, you can clearly see them across multiple slices.

Wood chips on bread? Sounds horrific!

I mean, we have seen similar wood chip-like grains before, but it looks like they felt extra hard to this mom. When she initially came across them, Meg said, “At first, I was gaslighting myself. I was like, ‘Maybe it’s some sort of grain or oat or something,’ but no, it’s for sure a wood chip.” I mean, it must have terrified all of us as well, especially when we are just moments away from feeding it to our little one.

The TikToker’s concern continued as Meg warned her viewers to keep their eyes open when consuming this bread, which claims to be healthy. “So check your Dave’s Killer Bread for wood chips, cause my daughter was literally half a second from eating a sandwich.” Since her video has garnered over 4 million views, many have weighed in on the situation in which food safety seems compromised.

One of them has straight-up suggested Meg “Report to the FDA,” while another viewer has called out the brand’s quality with, “This is a recall. People could get injured. This shows that their plant and food safety is poor.” Some took it as a joke as well, saying, “That’s why it’s so expensive, lumber prices are outrageous.”

Coming back to those wood chips, it looks like Meg wasn’t the only one who found them in her loaf, as one of her viewers found the same. This suggests that it wasn’t a mistake and was intentionally added to the product. However, the source has also mentioned the real deal here, which most of us may have already guessed. Yes, it looked like wood chips, but they could be peat fiber.

This feels quite hard, even though it’s made of cereal grain. Why? Because the grain’s outer protective layers are used. As a result, this harder-than-usual object sparked a mother’s concern, which is fair, as it is recommended to be thoughtful about what you consume. This case, including a TikToker who revealed the truth about stringy bacteria growing in cornbread, often makes headlines due to rising concerns about diet.

The brand is in contact with Meg, but as of yet, the woman’s concerns have not been confirmed as real.
