Battlefield 4 will likely be one of the biggest games to launch with next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft. While EA is making the transition into the next-gen, they believe that Battlefield 4 is “nothing short of astonishing”, and there’s considerable internal “enthusiasm” about the shooter which has yet to be announced.
In a recent blog post, EA’s Frank Gibeau spoke about the next-generation, more specifically about Battlefield 4 and how the mega-publisher is investing in technology to make the shooter one of EA’s innovative titles for the next-gen.
“EA’s next-gen software is nothing short of astonishing,” says Gibeau about Battlefield 4
“We’ve been investing and innovating on new technology for months. Console partners who have seen our early work agree, EA’s next-gen software is nothing short of astonishing. At a GameStop company meeting earlier this week, we gave 500 store managers a sneak peak at Battlefield 4. The game received a huge ovation and thousands of fans reacted to a single enthusiastic Tweet by GameStop’s CEO.”
While we’re likely to hear more about Battlefield 4 in the weeks and months ahead, industry insiders and analysts are obviously excited about the potential for the next shooter from DICE. One analyst recently explained that Battlefield 4 will have a chance at dethroning Call of Duty with the arrival of the PS4 and Xbox 720.
So when are fans going to start hearing about Battlefield 4? It wouldn’t be a surprise to see EA jockeying for a spot at Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox 720 event where they’ll likely reveal their new hardware. It would be a great spot to reveal Battlefield 4, but that’s just speculation. From a more official source. Late in January, Gibeau said that EA will be dishing the details about Battlefield 4 within 90 days, how and where they are going to do this is anyone’s guess.
Looking at Battlefield 3, EA revealed a lot of details about the shooter in March of 2011 at the Game Developers Conference, where they held an event dedicated to the shooter in San Francisco. It’s anyone’s guess as to how EA is going to reveal Battlefield 4, but it’ll likely be revealed for next-gen consoles and within the next three months.
