Battlefield 4: Naval Strike to bring back Titan Mode

Earlier today, the release date of Battlefield 4: Second Assault was announced, while the next themed expansion pack, Naval Strike, was also mentioned to arrive by the end of next month. If you purchased the Xbox One version of Battlefield 4, then it’s likely the release of Second Assault on other platforms does not make for very exciting news, and so DICE has decided to let their fans know what they can expect from Battlefield 4: Naval Strike.

The official page highlights the addition of five new but currently unnamed weapons, four new water-heavy maps, two new gadgets, and a new game mode. Curiously, one of the upcoming gadgets is an anti-aircraft mine that the engineers will be able to carry into battle. Perhaps even more curiously, the new game mode has been named Carrier Assault, and DICE liken it to the popular Titan Mode from the futuristic Battlefield 2142.

Not to be confused with the titans of Titanfall, Titan Mode featured the usual territorial battles with a twist. Players ultimately had to invade a gargantuan floating base that belonged to their enemy and sabotage it from within. The game would then switch from vehicular-based combat to a far more frantic infantry-based affair. In this case, it’s likely aircraft carriers will be the end objective.

No footage or screenshots have been posted just yet, but more information will probably drop after Battlefield 4: Second Assault drops for Premium members on February 18.

Have you ever played Titan Mode? Are you at all interest in Carrier Assault? Or perhaps you’ll be too busy playing a certain other game in March? Do let us know in the comments below!
