An interesting mechanic was introduced in Tekken Revolution called “Invincible moves”. Bandai Namco promises they will not return for Tekken 7.
Event Hubs had a chance to talk with Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada who serves as the director of Tekken 7. The website tried to squeeze in as much information of the new game as possible. Obviously Harada couldn’t share much, but he did comment on some things.
Invincible moves were only in Tekken Revolution and were never implemented in any other Tekken game. The feedback on them were mixed as some characters weren’t able to block them properly. Harada said elements in Tekken Revolution “such as fully invincible moves” will not be included in Tekken 7. This is good news for those that hated this mechanic.
Harada also talked a lot about Tekken 7’s new character Catalina. Catalina will be aimed for very casual gamers that like to press only one button repeatedly. Harada said the character will be an opening door for players that may have never played a Tekken game before.
It will be interesting to see how they balance Catalina against other Tekken 7 fighters. It might seem cheap for button mashers to be able to pull off good moves simply by pressing one button all of the time…
