Just yesterday, we told you about how customers in China had lined up for the first home console release in the country in 14 years with the Xbox One. At the time, we had no idea about the possible numbers associated with the launch, but now according to a report from MCV, the first day numbers may have been pretty exceptional.
According to MCV, Microsoft made a statement on A9VG that stated that the Xbox One has reached 100,000 in just its first day. The question however is whether this means shipped or sold, as they are two very different things. Microsoft also stated their goal is one million Xbox One sales in the first year, so this number might not be unheard of for first day sales in a country that hasn’t had an official console release in 14 years. We’ll have to wait to find out for sure when Microsoft gives another statement though.
After abysmal launches in Japan and South Korea, this would be a major victory for Microsoft, as they have struggled mightily to reach the Asian markets. If the Xbox One does prove to sell immensely well in the future in China, one would wonder if that might effect Microsoft’s strategy, as we’ve seen with Hollywood and the Chinese market in recent years.
