Lords of the Fallen developer Deck13 Interactive has spoken out as to why the game is not going to be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

In an interview with Worlds Factory, Michele Giacalone, (Engine/Graphics Programmer for Lords of the Fallen) talked in more detail about the topic. He mentioned that switching to the “next generation” was one of the biggest challenges while developing the game.

As Lords of the Fallen’s development progressed, the more Deck13 Interactive managed to find their groove so to speak. The team started to find the “right balance of visual quality, scene richness and performance“. Because of this, they didn’t want to hold back by developing on the older systems. They didn’t feel they couldn’t have achieved the same amount of detail if the game was to be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Lords of the Fallen looks great and takes advantage of the PC, PS4 and Xbox One hardware fully. It’s unfortunate PS3/Xbox 360 owners won’t be able to play the game, but this was necessary to make the game look that much better for the newer systems. They couldn’t have a separate team to port the game on other systems either.

Lords of the Fallen releases October 28th in North America and October 31st in Europe.
