The latest update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is now available to download on Xbox Live. Starting up the game will prompt you to download the new patch, which many are anticipating as it’s supposed to address matchmaking performance issues, UI problems, and other problems that have been cropping up since the game’s launch last week.
There have been quite a few reported issues with the game, but the major one here is matchmaking, and the inability for most players to actually play the multiplayer aspects of the game. Jumping in any of the matchmaking lobbies returns long, sometimes infinite wait times to find a match.
Well this patch was supposed to fix these issues, but apparently it hasn’t. Reddit, Twitter, and other message boards are full of complaints levied at 343 Industries for dropping the ball with this update. For one, it’s already been a week and only a portion of the game works (single player). And two, the patch was already delayed once, with 343 assuring that the update would make things better.
While some players are reporting that they are finding matches quicker than before, but still in the range 10-15 minutes per match regardless of which playlist they choose. Others are reporting that they’re getting hung up in “players found” and “connection to session” screen, and unable to stay with Xbox Live parties while playing the game.
