UPDATE: Hatred has been removed from Steam Greenlight by Valve.
The initial announcement of Destructive Creations’ ultra-violent video game, Hatred was either nothing like the developer was expecting, or exactly what they were hoping for. The game places you in the role of a psychopathic killer, who goes around slaughtering innocent people simply for fun. This angered many in the gaming community who felt that it took the usual video game violence too far, pushing it from innocent escapism into the realm of murder simulator. No matter which side of the camp you find yourself on, there is no doubt that Hatred sparked quite a bit of debate about video games and the violence that they represent.
Now, the game is one step closer to becoming a reality as it has hit Steam Greenlight, hoping the community will side with it and get it released on the popular PC platform. To celebrate this major step Destructive Creations has released a new trailer, revealing a few new features of the game, such as destructible environments. Take a look at the trailer and let us know what you think in the comments Is this an interesting change for video games, or does it go too far? You can also make your voice heard on the Hatred Greenlight page by clicking here. WARNING: The trailer below portrays some extreme violence.
The game is described as:Â Hatred is an isometric shooter with a disturbing atmosphere of mass killing, where player takes the role of a cold blood antagonist, who is full of hatred for humanity. It’s a horror, but here YOU are the villain. Wander the outskirts of New York State, seek for victims on seven free-roam levels. Fight against law enforcement and take a journey into the antagonist’s hateful mind. Gather equipment of the dead ‘human shields’, to spread Armageddon in the society. Destroy everything on your way of hunt and fight back when it’s disturbed.
Hatred is currently planned for release some time in Q2 2015 exclusively for PC.
