Many online retailers last week posted that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain would be out in February. Konami has now confirmed this is not true.
As reported three days ago, several online retailers posted that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain had a confirmed release date of February 24th, 2015. The only reason some people believed this was true was because the Microsoft Store posted this date. It was also a date that fell on a Tuesday so it seemed legit. Most placeholder release dates have odd days like March 31st or December 31st.
Konami’s ToraShiro posted on NeoGAF to “smash people’s dreams” to confirm that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will not be released in February 2015. He went on to say that he’d wish the retailers didn’t post a downright wrong release date. He concluded people should be wary of online retailer dates, and only listen to publishers for official news on release dates.
He didn’t give any indication on a real release date for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Something tells me the release date might be in late 2015 with Konami claiming how wrong the February date was.
As aforementioned, the only reason people were excited was because the Microsoft Store listed the release date. Hopefully the store only lists legit release dates from now on to avoid confusing some gamers.
