The new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is a nice trip down memory lane for anyone who grew up watching video game commercials in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Coming from Nintendo’s UK division, something about the ad feels very old-school. It is probably the mixture of live-action and game elements, combined with the very explanatory voice-over. All-in-all it is a great advertisement for the game as it evokes a lot of the dark tones from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is, of course, a handheld remake of the Nintendo 64 classic. That game originally launched in 2000 and featured some very interesting commercials and advertisements. Most of these played up the time elements found in the game, which has you reliving the same three day cycle as you try to avert disaster. This resulted in this classic trailer, which was quite dark for a Nintendo game:
The new trailer doesn’t quite hit the same level of grim fantasy, but it is certainly less light-hearted than most Nintendo videos. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D will launch on February 13th exclusively for Nintedo 2DS and 3DS. There is a limited edition version of the game, and a limited edition themed New 3DS, but both are highly sought after and are very difficult to find.
