Microsoft: “We’re Ready” For PS4 And Xbox One Cross-Play

While earlier this year the prospects of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One cross-play support came to light, Microsoft was willing to do it and Sony appeared a little hesitant to get involved in the process. However, the possibilities of cross-play have come to light once again.

ID@Xbox Europe’s Agostino Simonetta recently spoke with Eurogamer about whether or not the technology was in place for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One cross-play, and Simonetta said “Absolutely–we’re ready. Rocket League is the first game–and it is a heavily network-orientated game.”

Simonetta was then asked whether or not he’s heard any news from companyies like Sony regarding going forward with cross-play, to which he said “We can only say: we’re ready. We’ve done our bit and we welcome anyone who wants to take part.”

As mentioned previously, Sony never outright denied that they would be willing to work with Microsoft for cross-play, though they seemed to pivot more to the fact that they have been supporting cross-play with PC since 2002. We’ll have to wait and see if Sony releases anymore information regarding whether or not they are willing to support cross-play with Xbox.
