It looks like Microsoft is partnering with Square Enix and Ubitus in order to bring Final Fantasy XIII to the Xbox One for Chinese customers. It will be done via a beta test for a cloud streaming service.

The details were posted on the Xbox Chinese website. Twitter user, ZhugeEX, translated what it said and some Chinese gamers will be able to play Final Fantasy XIII on their Xbox One consoles via cloud streaming. It’s currently in beta form and Final Fantasy XIII is the only game confirmed to be playable so far.

ZhugeEX noted that users just have to download a 160mb file initially while the rest of the game in streamed onto the Xbox One. He says it’s similar to Sony’s PlayStation Now service and OnLive. Apparently, Final Fantasy 15 could be playable via cloud streaming if this is successful.

In terms of the beta, a NeoGAF user notes that only 400 people in China will be selected. It will be interesting to see if this feature becomes available to other users in the future. Cloud streaming is already used quite a bit in Japan as people have played Final Fantasy XIII on mobile devices like that.
