Overwatch easily shot up to the top of the UK video game charts. The game usurped Sony’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End which had been at the top spot for the last few weeks now.
GFK Chart-Track notes that Overwatch became the fastest selling Blizzard video game on consoles. 47 percent of the sales were for the PS4 version while the Xbox One and PC notched 36 and 18 percent respectively.
It’s worth mentioning GFK Chart-Track only counts physical sales from retailers so digital copies are not counted. It’s possible more people in the UK would have bought Overwatch digitally on PC.
Thanks to Overwatch, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End had to drop one spot to number two. Sales for the PS4 exclusive only slid down by 37 percent. The game still edged out DOOM 2016 as those sales dropped by 41 percent compared to last week.
Outside of Blizzard’s new shooter, there were other new releases that debuted in the charts. Total War: Warhammer managed to secure the 9th spot and is only the second new game to be in the top 10 this week. The only other new game to be in the top 40 is Activision’s TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan which only placed at number 18.
