Square Enix Teases Possibility Of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 & 2.5 On PS4 And 2.8 On Xbox One

Kingdom Hearts 3 may not have even a release window yet, but we recently learned that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 would be coming this December. With that releasing on PS4, we’ve been wondering about the potential of the 1.5 and 2.5 collections making their way to PS4 as well, which it sounds like may not be out of the realm of possibility.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 both released for PS3, with the latter coming a little ways into the lifespan of the PS4. We had once hoped that maybe we’d see an HD version of 3D packaged with a PS4 port of both collections, so we were a little surprised by the unveiling of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 last year.

2.8 was obviously the focus at E3 Kingdom Hearts wise, but that didn’t stop IGN from asking Kingdom Hearts 3 co-director Tai Yasue about the potential of bringing 1.5 and 2.5 to PS4.

“We listen to our fans obviously so we’ll see what they think [about a collection] and we’ll come to a decision on that.”

This is already a petition out there for this very thing, though we all know how often petitions actually work. However, it would just make sense to do this and make every single Kingdom Hearts game available on PS4, whether playable or through cinematic form. I’m still predicting that we’ll get a Kingdom Hearts 2.9 that includes 1.5, 2,5, and 2.8, since we know they often don’t make sense with their numbering.

In addition to discussing these two collections, Yasue was also asked if we might see Kingdom Hearts 2.8 also release on Xbox One, in which he responded “right now we haven’t come to a decision on that,” though you’d think that is something that would have been decided by now if it was going to happen.
