The Order: 1886 was once one of the most hyped games for the PlayStation 4 thanks to its incredible graphics and Victorian setting, but once the game finally launched it wasn’t all that special. While this put the series’ future in doubt for many, it looks like it isn’t down for the count quite yet.

Ready at Dawn co-founder Ru Weerasuriya briefly spoke about the series to Game Informer, where he said the following:

“Without giving anything… how can I say this… Is there a future? Yes. That IP has a future. It’s definitely built in that IP. That future is already something that was built from the very get-go, from the first day we started working on it. As you know, since you played the game and for the ones who played out there… there is a larger storyline. There is a macro story that keeps going, it’s an IP that is actually bigger than the storylines that we have created. So there are legs to this IP, definitely.”

This is good news to hear, as despite the game not living up to the hype many were in agreement that there was a lot of wasted potential. Improving the gameplay and narrative are definitely two of the most important things that need to be addressed, and hopefully a sequel could deliver that.

Developer Ready at Dawn is currently working on De-formers and Lone Echo, the former being developed for PS4, Xbox One and PC and the latter being developer for the Oculus Rift.
