Mark it down on your calendars. August 4th, 2011 saw Bungie’s final farewell to the legendary FPS series of Halo, one that truly re-defined the industry and helped to popularize a genre that was never thought possible on consoles. It is the end of an era, if you will, but Bungie of course wouldn’t pass the Halo torch without commemorating their fans and all who aided them in making the Halo universe what it was.

This hour-long video documentary, taking the symbolic route and drawing off of Mr. Huxley himself, titled “O Brave New World”, caps off Bungie’s 20th Anniversary festivities. The video highlights the studio’s past, present, and future as the team discusses what it took to make one of the best FPS franchises of all time, as well as what the future holds in store for them. Bungie concludes the documentary with this final message to all who have taken part on the developer’s incredible journey:

“Over the past twenty years, Bungie games have been built by a talented group of extraordinary people who refused to kill and eat each other in the process, even when times were tough. Our studio continues to thrive due in large part to the wealth of generosity, support, and understanding provided by our friends and family, and our success is owed completely to our uncompromising community of fans. Thank you for the past twenty years. We can’t wait to show you what’s next. See you starside.”

So sit back, grab your most prized Master Chief collectible, and enjoy a celebration of two amazing decades that will undoubtedly continue to influence the genre and industry alike for many more years to come.

Bang.
