This year’s Black Friday drove a surge in hardware and software sales in the UK, with combined sales of PS4 and Xbox One improving 3% compared to 2016. Sony’s platform had specially a good week, with the strongest performance on Black Friday since 2013, which coincided with its launch week. In the case of PlayStation VR, the heavy discounts provided the headset with its best week of sales since its release, with a number equivalent to the sales of the past 18 weeks combined. 83% of consoles were sold in bundles, which had a great impact on the software lists. Titles like Call of Duty: WWII, Gran Turismo Sport, or Forza Motorsport 7.

Overall, this was the biggest week for software sales in the year, in terms of units and revenue. Call of Duty: WWII claimed its fourth week on top of the lists, with FIFA 18 climbing to second place, and Gran Turismo Sport jumping from number nine to third place. Forza Motorsport 7 climbed from number 15 to number sixth. Bethesda’s big discounts also boosted sales of Wolfenstein 2 and Fallout 4, while Super Mario Odyssey was the best selling title for Nintendo Switch. PlayStation VR Worlds sit just outside of the top 10 at number 11, thanks to the strong sales of PSVR bundles.

The only two new entries on the charts are Knowledge Is Power and Hidden Agenda at number 14 and 15. Both games are part of PS4’s PlayLink lineup, which features multiplayer using smartphones as controllers.
