The new Fist of the North Star game (titled Hokuto ga Gotoku in Japanese) was one of the Yakuza Studio’s best surprises of the past summer, but since then we haven’t received much more details on the development. However, that has changed today, as Sega has presented a new 5-minute trailer during a livestream for Japanese fans. The new lengthy preview packs all kinds of footage, from spectacular cutscenes to gameplay segments, and even minigames like racing or card games, including some retro games inspired on NES titles.
We see series protagonist Kenishiro making use of his sublime martial art techniques in a world devastated by a nuclear war, as depicted in the manga. He is surrounded by familiar faces including friends and villains, and is seen fighting the most peculiar rivals using rather violent attacks.
The game takes direct inspiration on the gameplay of the Yakuza series to create a new experienced based on the manga, which had been adapted previously as arcades and fighting games. This time, the new project will be able to depict the post apocalyptic world of the anime at a much larger scale and with unprecedented detail and freedom of move.
Fist of the North Star launches in Japan on March 8th exclusively on PS4. Watch the new trailer below.
