Call of Duty: Elite is easy to hate on.  I mean Activision has pretty much made it mandatory that you subscribe to the service, if you’re a Call of Duty fan.  The feature set and the price are a better value than the DLC options that the company has offered with past games.  And the inclusion of all of the new features that come alongside the access to the DLC make it a “no-brainer” , according to Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities.

“We expect that at least 1 million will sign up for the premium Elite membership by year end,” the analyst said in his research notes. “The Call of Duty network effect may be amplified by premium Elite, such that if a gamer’s friend purchases premium Elite and gets access to premium maps, the gamer may feel compelled to purchase premium Elite in order to compete as early and as often as possible.”

Coming out of the Call of Duty XP event , it appears that DLC for the Elite subscribers will be handled differently this year and for Modern Warfare 3.  Players will be getting 20 pieces of DLC content, in smaller, easier to digest, monthly bits.
