Capcom Home Arcade Announced, Featuring 16 Classic Titles

Before becoming a powerhouse on consoles, Capcom dominated the arcade scene; and the developer is giving players a chance to see how it managed to do so with the Capcom Home Arcade, a plug-and-play device featuring 16 of its classic arcade titles.

As stated on the official website, the Capcom Home Arcade is about as close players could get to the arcades without going to the arcade itself (or making their own cabinet).

The hardware consists of a pair of competition class Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT sticks with 8-way GT-Y directional gates and OBSF buttons for the “finest precision, response times and durability;” while the software, the aforementioned 16 pre-installed arcade games, is from the original Capcom CPS1 and CPS2 arcade ROMs with emulation provided by FB Alpha designed to provide an authentic & accurate arcade experience.

Fortunately, while the experience is arcade quality, it won’t be as difficult to set it up — simply connect the supplied HDMI cable to the TV and the supplied USB cable to a USB power supply and you’re good to go.

As expected from the decision to include two sticks in the package, these games come with multiplayer support where you can either play head-to-head or co-op. In addition, any high scores you make can be uploaded online via the Capcom Home Arcade’s onboard WiFi to a Worldwide High Score Leaderboard where you can see how you stack up against other players around the world.

For the time being, the Capcom Home Arcade is confirmed to be coming to Europe on Oct. 25 for €229.99. A North American release is also planned, but details aren’t available just yet.
