Ever since VR gaming first took off it feels like zombies have been intrinsically tied to the tech. Game after game has tried to bring the feeling of zombie apocalypse survival to VR, with some working decently enough while other faltered. Now it seems like we might be in for the best of them all as the biggest zombie franchise in the world mixes with the makers of some of VR’s best titles. The Walking Dead: Onslaught is a new VR game from the makers of Raw Data and Creed: Rise to Glory, and it’s coming to VR this Fall.
We don’t have any gameplay footage just yet, but it’s clear that this game will be a major part of the show. Featuring iconic weaponry from character favorites such as Rick, Darryl, and Carol the teaser trailer should get fans hyped. From the looks of it, The Walking Dead: Onslaught will be a wave shooter in the same vein as Raw Data. Hopefully it also features the genre enhancements and overall high quality of that game. See our review here for more, but we summed it up by saying “Raw Data is like the final solid release of VR gaming’s first wave, and the beginning of the second.”
So far, outside of the trailer all we do have is this description: “The official VR game of AMC’s The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead Onslaught turns you into a desperate survivor struggling against the relentless walker threat, while confronting both the horrors and humanity of this apocalyptic new world.”
