Kojima Productions and Konami have finally made good on bringing trophy support to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The patch recently hit the PlayStation Network in Japan, and comes in at a hefty 498MB. Alongside the new trophy support, MGS players can also install the game to their HDD. This new feature eliminates the need for the installation of content that was originally needed between acts in the massive title.
You’ll definitely need some space available though. The install will require about 9GB. Initial reports out of Japan say that the Metal Gear Solid 4 install process will take around 16 minutes from start to finish, just enough time to kiss your loved ones goodbye and begin your hunt for platinum goodness.
The new Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots patch also uses a pre and post patch save system, so it appears that you’ll have to go back and truly earn those trophies if you want them on your permanent record.
