It is no secret that Eevee is one of the most popular Pokémon of all time, and in Pokémon GO it is no different. The evolutionary variants are no less beloved. However, some of the Pokémon GO Eevee evolution choices outperform others – let us show you why!
Unlike the mainline games, stats can’t be adjusted in Pokémon GO, so what you see is what you get. Pokémon can only power up with candies, but this is limited to the level of the player.
In Pokémon GO, it’s possible to choose what Eevee evolves into: see how to evolve specific variants here.
All Eevee Evolutions Ranked Pokemon GO
- Flareon
- Espeon
- Leafon
- Jolteon
- Glaceon
- Vaporeon
- Sylveon
- Umbreon
Flareon
Coming in last is one of the original Eevee evolutions. The Fire type performs mildly in Gyms, Raids, PvE, PvP and the three battle Leagues. Flareon is more of a soft-spot choice, or to complete a collection of all evolutionary variants. Flareon is outclassed in all areas, sadly. There are many, many Fire types available that are miles better than this little fiery friend.
Espeon
Psychic-type evolution Espeon is surprisingly not further up in the list. In player vs. player battles, Espeon’s moves just don’t hold up. There are many other Psychic Pokémon that are much stronger. Espeon does have the highest base attack stat of the Eevee evolutions, but it doesn’t quite cut it. Across all three Pokémon GO battle leagues, Espeon’s performance is average at best.
Leafeon
Leafeon received a new move during the latest Eevee community day, which has pushed it up in people’s opinions. Though, having a low defense stat (standing at a solid 130), it has a lesser attack stat than most Eeveelutions as well. Leafeon is a Grass type, and fulfills this role well; even holding up against the classic choices like Roserade. Leafeon does have use in the Master League, as it’s moves are strong enough to decimate any foes with a Grass-type weakness.
Jolteon
Jolteon is a great middle entry in the Eevee evolutions ranks. It’s defense and and attack stats are in the middle of other choices, but its move Zap Cannon can pack a punch! Jolteon shines brighter in PvE battles than versus other players; a fairly easy to obtain electric type that has solid stats and good moves (not all of us are lucky enough to have enough candy for an Electivire).
Glaceon
This icy animal is a solid fourth place due to it’s rarity (Ice types are hard to come by in Pokémon GO) and the ability to successfully bring down the dreaded Dragon types. Glaceon does have the lowest attack and defense stats – but don’t let this put you off. Glaceon is equipped with good moves and a high CP – and so is a good choice for the Master League and Gyms defended by Dragon type Pokémon.
Vaporeon
One of the original champions overall of Pokémon GO, Vaporeon is still a favourite among players. Boasting a high maximum CP, strong moves, and high attack stats, Vaporeon suits all leagues, Raid bosses and Gym battles. It does have the lowest defense stat among Eevee’s evolutions, however. Vaporeon misses out on the top spots of the Water type, but only to legendaries like Kyogre or the mighty Gyarados.
Sylveon
Sylveon is the latest addition of Eevee’s evolutions into Pokémon GO. And boy did it make a splash! Sylveon only just misses out on the top spot due to being out-performed by Umbreon in the Great and Ultra Leagues. The Fairy type of this Pokémon aids its performance; as does its’ moveset. Whereas there are stronger Fairy types, they are very hard to evolve (I’m looking at you, Gardevoir). Sylveon can safely break Dragon types in a heartbeat which makes it a fantastic choice.
Umbreon
Coming in at number one is Umbreon. Pokémon GO players have championed Umbreon since it’s release into the game. It’s moves grant it advantages over many types in the Great and Ultra Leagues. Umbreon has the highest defense stat, and this shows in its performance. The only drawback is the Master League; Umbreon does not quite match up in this compared to the others. Umbreon is one of, if not the best Dark-type Pokémon in the game!
Pokémon GO is out on Android and Apple now.
