Are Paradox Pokemon Shiny Locked in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

While exploring the new region of Paldea, you may have stumbled across various large Pokemon which seem to adopt unusual forms. These larger-than-life species are known as Paradox Pokemon, and seven inhabit both Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. But while these species are impressive on their own, any avid Pokemon hunter will be desperate to know if these goliath creatures can be found in a shiny form. But due to their limited nature, a few strings are attached to their appearance. So read on to find out if you can catch Shiny Paradox Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.

Can Paradox Pokemon Be Shiny in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Paradox Pokemon can be shiny in Scarlet and Violet, but the odds of encountering a shiny variation of them are incredibly slim. Luckily, shiny Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet can be seen in the overworld, similarly to shiny Pokemon in Legends of Arceus, which gives a slightly more accessible approach to see whether or not you’re lucky but doesn’t increase the odds. While you can still hunt them in the overworld, this is the only method players will have when it comes to shiny hunting Paradox Pokemon unlike other Pokemon, which can be bred and hatched to speed up the process.

Since Paradox Pokemon cannot be bred or hatched from eggs, the only time trainers will have the opportunity to encounter and catch a shiny Paradox Pokemon is once the main story for the game has been completed. Only then will trainers be able to return to the original location they found Paradox Pokemon in and enter a battle sequence before being able to catch them. There is no way to catch a Paradox Pokemon before completing the main game, so you can look, but you can’t touch. Although the odds may be slim, encountering a shiny Paradox Pokemon is certainly a reason to brag.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
