Fortnite Season 8 is finally here, and one of the new Punchcard quests requires players to harvest 100 metal from an Alien crash site. The climactic finale of Season 7 brought down the massive Alien Mothership and its Abductors, leaving wreckage scattered across the Fortnite map. These Alien crash sites are home to valuable loot and materials, and J.B. Chimpansky’s quest sends players to harvest some metal for the war effort. Finding metal at an Alien crash site is actually much easier said than done, but there are a few tricks you can use to speed up the process. Here’s how to harvest metal from an Alien crash site in Fortnite.
How to Harvest Metal From an Alien Crash Site in Fortnite
Alien crash sites are marked on the map with scorched, orange soil. They can be found in all corners of the map and you should be able to spot fragments of the wrecked Alien Abductors poking out of the ground from far away. These towering pieces of metal cannot be harvested themselves, so you’ll have to do some further searching once you arrive. Here’s where you can find Alien crash sites in Fortnite.
- West of Pleasant Park
- West of Boney Burbs
- West of Weeping Woods
- Northeast of Misty Meadows
- West of Dirty Docks
You have to harvest 100 metal to complete this quest. This sounds easy on paper, but metal can be quite hard to come by at Alien crash sites. Your primary targets should be the big metal boxes attached to the wrecked Abductors. These only give 10-20 metal each though, so you’ll have to seek other means to find enough metal. Metal from chests counts, so open any chests you see and hope they give you a bunch of metal. Also, you can harvest ammo containers for small amounts of metal as well.
The thing with this quest is the range is actually quite far, so you can harvest metal from unlikely sources. At the Alien crash site near Misty Meadows, for example, you can head into the nearby house and harvest the kitchen appliances for metal. That alone will give you more than 100 metal, so check the areas surrounding Alien crash sites for easy metal sources. If you don’t want to search for them yourself, then just go to the one by Misty Meadows and go into the house mentioned above.
Once you gather enough metal, you can continue with J.B. Chimpanski’s Punchcard questline. There are quite a few NPCs on the Season 8 map with Punchcard quests, so make sure to keep an eye out for friendly faces. Completing these quests is a great way to get a headstart on the Season 8 Battle Pass, bringing you one step closer to unlocking skins like Carnage.
