Over 1 Million PS4 Consoles Sold In The UK

It has been revealed that the PS4 has reached the 1 million sales mark over in the UK.

This was reported by MCV UK which announced that the PS4 selling 1 million consoles makes it the second fastest selling system in the country. Since its release last November, the PS4 sold over 1 million units in just 42 weeks. The only console to sell at a faster rate in the UK is the original Wii console which sold over 1 million units in only 38 weeks.

MCV also did comparisons with other home consoles. The PS4 is performing in line with the PS3 which sold 1 million units in 46 weeks. The PS4 beats out the PS2 which sold 1 million in 50 weeks while the Xbox 36 took 60 weeks to reach the same milestone.

Sony’s Fergal Gara told MCV that most of the PS4 owners previously came from Xbox. He said ” it’s fairly clear that a big chunk of those have come across from Xbox”. He added that they are buying the PS4 as their “first serious gaming device”.

On a worldwide scale, Sony announced that sales of the PS4 have just reached over the 10 million mark. It will be exciting to see how popular the console gets for this upcoming Holiday season.
