Last year, game developer BonusXP and Netflix quietly released a game based on the hit Netflix show Stranger Things, which was very inspired by Zelda and surprisingly good for a game with practically non-existent marketing. Now, this game is getting a successor, and will follow the events of the upcoming season of the show.
At this year’s Game Awards, Stranger Things creators the Duffer brothers announced Stranger Things 3: The Game, which will be based on the upcoming third season of the Netflix show. Netflix is once again working with BonusXP to make the game, and this new game will feature 16-bit graphics, as opposed to the previous game which emulated a more 8-bit style. The new game will also take on an isometric view point, whereas its predecessor was a top-down game. And while the first game was a mobile game, this new game will be available for PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch and will feature online co-op capabilities.
No release date or window was given for the new game, and for anyone who’s wondering, no release date or window was given for the third season of the show either, though the Duffer brothers joked about production of the show being set back a month due to how much they’ve been playing video games, so take that as you will.
