Retail listings for Destiny had previously revealed exclusive content coming to PlayStation players. While a full year of exclusivity did sound like a little much, apparently Activision has confirmed that Destiny players on the Playstation 3 and PlayStation 4 will get a full year of exclusivity on the platforms.
The exclusive content includes a competitive multiplayer map called “Exodus Blue”, the “Dust Palace” Strike Mission, and exclusive Weapons, Ships, and Gear. Activision has confirmed that this content will remain exclusive to the PlayStation until the Fall of 2015.
Activision is no stranger to platform timed exclusivity deals. Their popular Call of Duty series of games continues to launch downloadable content for the shooter a full month earlier on the Xbox systems. Though a year long bout of exclusivity is the longest we’ve seen from the company.
Bungie and Sony have been working pretty closely on Destiny. It was recently discovered that Bungie helped with input on the design direction for the DualShock 4. Bungie, who’ve long been a Microsoft Xbox only studio, is set to make their debut on PlayStation in September when Destiny finally releases.
A beta is scheduled for Destiny on the PlayStation 4 in July.
