ARMS Leads Japanese Sales This Week

Nintendo’s new fighting IP ARMS makes a solid debut in the Japanese market, entering the charts at number 1 and selling 100.652 copies, according to Media Create. The timing of this entry is especially interesting, considering this new IP managed to sell much better than a veteran fighting series that released a new entry recently: Tekken 7. We gave ARMS a positive review, although the game might be a little light on content.

With the release of ARMS, Nintendo sent bigger shipments of their Nintendo Switch console to stores, which was enough to sell a few more thousand units and renew its regular lead position on the hardware list, although it’s still far from solving its stock issues.

Nintendo Switch was not the only console to improve its sales, as PS4 got a slight boost which some relate to the announcement of Monster Hunter: World during E3 and the near release of Dragon Quest XI.

Elsewhere in the charts, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild finally sold more than 500.000 physical copies, becoming the second Nintendo Switch title in achieving the feat after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Other games with soft drops were Monster Hunter XX, Ys VIII for PS4, Grand Theft Auto V, and Nier: Automata, which next week it will have sold more than 350.000 copies.
