Assassin’s Creed Origins Finally Gets 60 FPS Patch on PS5

The long-awaited 60 FPS patch for Assassin’s Creed Origins is nearly here, and PS5 players will soon be able to revisit the scorching sands of ancient Egypt on next-gen consoles. Only the PlayStation update has been revealed so far, but it’s likely that the game will also be enhanced on Xbox Series X|S as well. Assassin’s Creed Origins is coming to Xbox Game Pass soon, so an update could be released alongside its arrival on the service.

The news comes from the PlayStation Game Size Twitter page, which has accurately reported on several upcoming patches and updates for games in the past. According to the tweet, Assassin’s Creed Origins update 1.60 has been added to the PSN database, indicating a release is coming soon. The account speculates that the patch will drop next week, which would fit the timing of previous updates being added to the PSN database.

The patch notes aren’t very long, but there are two significant additions in this update. Of course, the highlight of this patch is a 60 FPS mode on PS5, indicated by the update stating “Enabled higher framerate when running on Playstation 5 console.” Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the follow-up title set in ancient Greece, received 60 FPS support on both PS5 and Xbox Series X last year. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the most current game in the series, supports 60 FPS natively on next-gen consoles as well.

The other interesting addition in this update is a franchise menu, which will most likely contain links to the store pages for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla. Older Assassin’s Creed games are still being played by tons of new people since they regularly go on sale and they’re massive games, so it makes sense to patch in some advertisements for those who haven’t picked up the newest entries in the series. It wouldn’t be the first time Ubisoft has done something like that.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is available now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
