Battlefield 3 Servers going down for migration and maintenance

This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

For the next couple of days console players of Battlefield 3 will see some downtime as DICE looks to optimize their online service. During the downtime, DICE will be migrating the Battlefield 3 servers and the outage is expected last for around eight hours.

DICE explains that this migration and optimization of Battlefield 3 servers should have little impact on regular players. However, they do note that some who rent console servers will be effected by the migration process, especially those in the South US region.

After the server migration you will not be able to extend your current lease or start a new lease in the South US Region, and the developers recommend that players use the East or West regions instead.

The downtime will begin at 10 p.m. PST, and is expected to last until around 6 a.m. PST on Tuesday. This server consolidation is leading some to think that EA is scaling back its server renting practices due to a lack of profits from the initiative.
