Today’s Nintendo Direct marked the final video presentation for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U. Cloud from Final Fantasy VII, Bayonetta, and Corrin from the upcoming title, Fire Emblem: Fates have been announced as the last characters to be added to the game.

Corrin, like Wii Fit Trainer and Robin, will be playable as either male or female.  With the blood of a dragon, (s)he has the ability to transform various limbs during special attacks.  Corren also wields a sword, Omega Yato, and is capable of countering attacks from any direction.  Properly timed aerial side specials pin opponents to the ground and can be followed up with combos.

Cloud was declared to have been the most requested character for the game.

Cloud was declared to have been the most requested character for the game.  Available later today for both Wii U and 3DS, his side smashes deal 3 high-speed chain attacks with his Buster sword.  Similar to Little Mac’s Power Meter, Cloud has a Limit Break gauge that fills upon either dealing damage or charging with his down special.  A fully charged Limit Break temporarily replaces Cloud’s special attacks with more powerful versions.

Finally, Bayonetta utilizes many powerful combos.  Although slow to start, they appear to be the bread and butter of her character.  Each special attack strikes opponents multiple times, and holding down attack buttons cause her to auto-fire her pistols.  Her up special provides a jump boost that can be used twice, and her ability to attack in between grants quite a few opportunities for combos. For smash attacks, she uses Wicked Weave to deliver powerful KOs.

FFVII’s Midgar Stage, as well as Bayonetta’s Umbra Clock tower will be available upon their characters’ respective release.  The following Mii Fighter costumes, with the exception of Geno and Chocobo (releasing later today), will be available February 2016:

  • Chocobo Hat (Final Fantasy) – All Types
  • Geno Hat/Geno Outfit (Super Mario RPG) – Gunner
  • Bionic Armor – Brawler
  • Takamaru – Sword Fighter
  • Ashley (Wario Ware inc.) – Sword Fighter
  • Gil  (The Tower of Druaga) – Sword Fighter
  • Tails (Sonic the Hedgehog) – Gunner
  • Knuckles (Sonic the Hedgehog) – Brawler
